Great Smoky Mountain Railway

Nantahala Gorge – 4 ½ hours

Bryson City departure to the Nantahala Gorge and return. Depart from the historic depot (built in the mid-1800’s). The 44-mile round trip provides views of the Smoky Mountains from a 791-foot trestle on piers 179-feet high over Fontana Lake. At the Gorge, the Nantahala River is a whitewater mecca for rafting, canoeing, and kayaking. One-hour layover for viewing scenery and whitewater activity.
